I have been enjoying the world of wedding and portrait photography for 6 years…but it isn’t what I’ve always done. After completing two graduate degrees in Mental Health Counseling, I spent 11 years working in the mental health field and 2 1/2 years teaching at a university. While I enjoyed teaching and working with the mentally ill was fulfilling, it was also draining to listen to pain and distress all day, every day. I dreamed about truly living life – and doing work that was joyful and creative. I have been drawn to the arts since I was a teenager and played with multiple mediums like watercolor and pencil, but never found my niche. That is, until I discovered photography in 2006.
So I embraced it. And I love it.
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.
— Henry David Thoreau
But that wasn’t my only dream. Have you ever wanted something so bad that it literally consumed you? I have. And one of those things – besides changing my career – was about geography. I was living in a big city and I’m NOT a city girl. I wasn’t happy surrounded by concrete and living a rushed life. I wanted to live in the mountains.
I would joke with my friends that someday I was going to drop out of society and move to the mountains. Well, I did. And so now, I’m finally living the life I was meant to live.
I relocated to the mountains of North Carolina in January of 2011 and am now living in a small town. And I love being close to nature and spend a lot of time time in nature, hiking to some of the most beautiful hidden spots. But, I’m still close to larger cities – like Asheville, Boone, Johnson City, and Hickory – so I can easily travel to a wedding in these surrounding areas.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Jean Moree Photography is located in Western North Carolina and specializes in weddings, portraits, landscapes, boudoir, and other events. I provide on-location photography as well as portraits in your home (by bringing the studio to you). I also am available for “studio-booth” setups for events (like class reunions).
Jean Moree Photography creates family heirlooms with our unique and high-quality products. As a client, you will receive art worthy of hanging in your home.
I travel and am available for weddings throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA. However, if you are having a wedding in another area – let me know. I have also had the pleasure of photographing weddings in New Orleans, Mobile, Alabama, and Savannah, Georgia. I am a member of PPA and also a regular participant in PPA’s Family Portrait Month, that helps raise money for Operation Smile.
I am also a participating photographer for Red Thread Sessions! A Red Thread Session is a complimentary photography session for adoptive families – held during the homecoming or shortly after the adoption. Participating photographers in Red Thread Sessions have agreed to celebrate the adoption by completely waiving the session fee and offering edited proofs from the session at no costs to you.
Please browse though the online galleries and Blog to get a feel for my style of photography. If you are interested in viewing an entire wedding gallery (to see the consistency of my work), let me know.
WHAT MAKES JEAN MOREE PHOTOGRAPHY DIFFERENT?
- I believe in good customer service. Emails are answered within 12 hours (sometimes within 10 minutes) and phone calls are returned just as quickly. I’m easily reachable, bottom line, and don’t leave you hanging.
- I believe in fast turn-around all while maintaining the highest quality. That’s right – your wedding will be in your online gallery 2 weeks from your wedding date. Your portraits? They’ll be online in a week, maybe sooner. Oh, and those are fully-edited. I fully believe it’s important for you to see your images while you are still excited about them.
- I believe in quality products. No, I’m not going to sell you an magazine-style book with paper pages just like the one you can buy at Walgreens and call it an album. (Yes, some photographers do that). My albums are are true albums with thick pages and archival images on the page, covered in leather or a fabric of your choice. My albums will last a lifetime and won’t yellow or fade. Ask me to see one.
- I believe in giving to good causes. That’s why I proudly participate in PPA’s Family Portrait Month and Red Thread Sessions (see above).
- I believe in beautiful surprises. Become a client and find out what that means.
