Day 90/365: “My test subject.” Sometimes on engagement sessions or portraits session, my son comes along. He acts as my test subject before we get started so I make sure my lighting is right…and usually he doesn’t smile. You see, he’s so tired of having his picture taken that getting him to cooperate is sometimes difficult. And getting a good photo of him is usually impossible. This time, however, he actually smiled and didn’t make a crazy face. Just had to share.

Day 89/365: “Sometimes funny things happen at weddings.”  So today was Chris and Bobby’s wedding…and this moment was too funny.  Weddings don’t always go as planned…in fact, I’d say about 95% of the weddings I’ve photographed have had glitches.  A glitch isn’t bad…it just happens.  And sometimes it makes for a great photo – like this one.  What’s good about this?  This photo shows two people who take glitches with a smile (cause you know that’s the ONLY way to get buy in life…smile at the glitches).

Day 88/365: “Beautiful even on cloudy days.” Because there is no such thing as a “bad day” in the mountains. Nope. And there’s no such thing as bad weather…it’s all beautiful (even IF some of it isn’t drivable).

Day 87/365: “Sometimes I forget…” Sometimes I forget that the ground my feet walk on is actually 3500 feet in the air. I forget that because I’ve lived most of my life at sea level. And sometimes it dawns on me that I live up pretty high..and then I smile.

Day 86/365: “In the clouds…”  Because apparently you can actually live in the clouds.  Amazing.

Day 85/365: “The place for picnics.” Because this is where people go, apparently. Not only is it beautiful…but there are trails and room to play games. And I found it. OK, I didn’t find it first, but I’m glad I found it.

Day 84/365: “Tell me a story…”  Part of my fascination with old buildings is imagining the history and the story that goes with it. Imagining people walking in and out. Imagining activity, laughter, emotions…history.  What do you think the story could have been here as you look at this photo?

Day 83/365: “Places like this really exist.”  When you live in a place like this, there are the cutest spots everywhere you look!  Like this.  This looks like something out of a movie (for someone who always lived in a city)…but spots like this are everywhere. 10 months and I’m still in awe at the beauty that surrounds me.  Sometimes I catch myself smiling while I’m driving around because I can’t believe I live here. But it’s true. And it makes me happy.

Day 82/365: “So high you can see the end of the earth.”  Or at least it seems like it.  It’s so amazing to me the view from this high – it’s almost like you can see where the earth curves.  I love it.
